An exhibition of artwork by seven artists titled “Serenade” will go on display at Nomad Gallery from Wednesday.

A striking collection of experimental and thought-provoking paintings and prints by local and international contemporary artists with Pakistani origin will be showcased at the exhibit, said a press release issued on Monday.

The seven artists have explored emotions and the transience of the world around them in their paintings, it added.

Among the artists, Arjumand Awan, expresses his creativity through different media and fields, like fine arts, decoration and film-making. He depicts various aspects of life, both socio-political and personal. On the other hand, Asadur Rehman is a French abstract expressionist painter and sculptor of Pakistani origin. His canvases are exuberant and filled with colour. His work appears to be influenced by French artists, where he studied and has been living for more than two decades. He believes that abstract art is a way to achieve what is really important.

Zia Zaidi, another artist whose work is going to be exhibited, is a graduate of Publicity Design from National College of the Arts, Lahore. His paintings are an expression of non-physical experience about love, life, inner truth and guidance, said the statement.

Similarly, Anjum Ayub, a printmaker uses different techniques to create a sanctuary for the soul. As the world will eventually come to end, the subjects of my paintings and prints also keep vanishing, she said.

In her work, Tabassum Rizvi captures moods, thoughts and places with bold or heavy strokes. She works with oil paints and her work has been widely exhibited.

Mughees Riaz, who is currently teaches painting the Punjab University, is also going to be featured at the exhibit. Riaz’s work has steadily appreciated over the last two or three years. His resume shows an extensive exhibition list which includes galleries around the country as well as group shows.

Lastly, Hanif Abdul a self-thought artist of Pakistan origin, who works with acrylics, oils and pastels and is currently working in Germany, will also put his work up on his display come Wednesday.

The ensemble is really exciting, lets see how it (exhibition) goes, said one of the organisers.
