KARACHI:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan said on Saturday that the development work of two Emergency Response Centres near KPT Flyover and Jail Chowrangi have been finalised. A rescue unit, ambulances and fire brigades will soon be provided to the centers.

Khan added that 90 per cent work on Nipa Chowrangi and 70 per cent work on Gulshan Chowrangi has also been finished. Work on rescue centres at Johar Morr and Samama had also begun and work at Baloch Pull and Shah Faisal Colony centres will begin soon. He believed that there was a dire need of emergency centres and their network will be spread across the city. Khan quoted an example of the fire that broke out in the industrial area of North Karachi where the Emergency Response Center of Nagan Chowrangi responded within three minutes.
