SHO among seven cops martyred in Lakki Marwat IED blast

K-P CM condemns attack, seeks detailed report from IGP

PESHAWAR:

At least seven police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Shadi Khel Police Station, were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion near a police mobile in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat.

K-P police confirmed that a mobile unit was targeted with an IED. Immediate rescue teams were dispatched to the scene following the blast, and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

The deceased include Staion House Officer Sadr Azam, Constable Shah Behram (driver), Constables Shah Khalid, Haji Muhammad, Gul Zada, Sakhi Zada, and Constable Insaf Uddin.

K-P has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, accounting for the highest number of incidents out of the total 5,397 reported last year. K-P recorded 3,811 incidents, followed by Balochistan with 1,557 incidents. Only 29 incidents were reported from the rest of the country. A total of 2,597 terrorists were killed during the year, according to the military spokesperson.

K-P Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the attack and ordered a detailed report from the provincial police chief. He described the death of the seven officers as “extremely tragic” and said the provincial government stood in full solidarity with the families of the martyrs.

He also extended condolences to the families of the victims and directed authorities to ensure the best medical care for the wounded. The chief minister expressed that such cowardly terrorist attacks would not weaken their resolve in the fight against terrorism.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also strongly condemned the terrorist attack.

Expressing his grief, the president prayed for the martyred policemen.

President Zardari also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured officers and praised their courage in the face of adversity.

In a seperate message, PM Shehbaz also offered prayers for the police personnel martyred in the blast and extended his condolences to their families.

The prime minister also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. He assured that the sacrifices made by police officers and security forces would never go in vain and reaffirmed the government's commitment to completely eradicating terrorism from the country.
