Security forces foil infiltration attempt by 'Fitna al-Khawarij' in North Waziristan: sources

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq to continue until the designated objectives are fully achieved, security sources say

Security forces foiled another infiltration attempt by terrorists near Sadaq village in North Waziristan as part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, security sources said on Friday.

According to security sources, militants identified as members of the Afghan Taliban and “Fitna al-Khawarij” attempted to cross into Pakistani territory near Sadaq village. However, troops of the Pakistan Army responded swiftly and effectively, preventing the infiltration.

Sources said the timely action by security forces forced the militants to retreat after what they described as “unprovoked aggression,” adding that the attackers faced strong resistance on multiple fronts.

They added that security forces remain vigilant and committed to preventing cross-border infiltration and ensuring stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s armed forces carried out successful airstrikes during the night between March 12 and 13, targeting terrorist hideouts and facilities across the border in Afghanistan.

Security sources said the strikes effectively destroyed the Tarawo terrorist camp in Kandahar. Another facility, the Sherinaw camp in Afghanistan’s Paktia province, was also targeted during the operation.

Security officials said a video of the successful airstrikes has also been released.

They added that operations under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq will continue until the designated objectives are fully achieved, with security forces remaining vigilant against cross-border militant activity.

Operation Ghazab Lil-Haq was launched on February 27, following renewed clashes along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, after Afghan Taliban forces fired on multiple locations, prompting swift military retaliation by Pakistan.

During the Pak-Afghan conflict, Pakistan named the latest military action Operation Ghazab Lil Haq. The phrase is understood to mean “Wrath for the Truth” or “Fury for the sake of justice,” reflecting what officials describe as a forceful response to aggression.

On Thursday, Pakistan reiterated its demand for verifiable assurances from Kabul that its territory would not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

"Since such assurances have not been received, Pakistan will continue to follow its existing policy," said Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi while addressing his weekly news briefing. He added that Islamabad reserved the right to respond in self-defense against cross-border attacks.

The spokesperson confirmed that two Pakistani nationals had lost their lives in the United Arab Emirates during the ongoing hostilities. Pakistan's missions in the UAE, he said, had facilitated the repatriation of the deceased and were assisting the bereaved families.

On Wednesday, at least 641 Afghan Taliban operatives have been killed and more than 855 injured during the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil Haq, launched in response to what Islamabad described as "unprovoked action" from across the Afghan border, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.

The operation was launched last month following renewed clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, after Afghan Taliban forces fired on multiple locations, prompting swift military retaliation by Pakistan.

In an update shared on his official X account, Tarar said security forces had inflicted heavy losses on terrorist positions across the border during the operation.

According to the minister, 243 check posts used by Afghan Taliban operatives have been destroyed so far, while another 42 were captured and subsequently destroyed by Pakistani forces.

A total of 219 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns were destroyed during the course of the operation, Tarar added.

He further stated that Pakistani forces carried out air operations targeting multiple terrorist sites across Afghanistan.

"Sixty-five locations across Afghanistan were effectively targeted by air," Tarar said.
