Saving Democracy: Gilani praised for ‘protecting constitution’
Members of the Pakistan Peoples Party Human Rights Cell met and paid tribute to former prime minister.
Members of the Pakistan Peoples Party Human Rights Cell met yesterday and paid tribute to former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for standing up for the constitution, specifically 248(2). “We believe that by doing so, he has not only protected the constitutional office of the president, but has also protected the people and democracy, according to a statement issued by the cell. Without the immunity clause, political and democratic governments would become susceptible to destablisation via the legal route, especially read with articles 62 and 63.”
