Fund embezzlement: Probe into fraudulent activities leads to raid

Corrupt officials allegedly embezzled Rs14.2million from the GP fund contribution of retired and deceased teachers.

UMERKOT:


A team from the anti-corruption department, in the presence of a civil judge, raided the local treasury office following a probe into the bungling of General Pension (GP) funds.


Corrupt officials have allegedly embezzled Rs14.2million from the GP fund contribution of retired and deceased teachers. The raid took place after complaints were made by several teachers. A clerk, identified as Nadeem and an agent managed to flee with some important records.

The circle officer anti-corruption, Ahmed Nawaz Rind, said that some important papers had been seized and a further probe was under way and startling disclosures should be expected.
