LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Tuesday directed an additional district and sessions judge to get murder charges added to the FIR of a woman’s death from burn injuries allegedly inflicted by her husband and in-laws.

He issued the directive in a suo motu hearing of Nazia Bibi’s killing.

The CJ observed that the FIR mentioned Section 324 (murder attempt) of the Pakistan Penal Code. He said the woman had died and directed the ADSJ to replace the section with Section 302 (murder).

He also directed the ADSJ to ensure a fair police investigation in the matter.

The woman was set on fire allegedly by her in-laws on her failure to bring money from her family.
