Service structure: YDA warns of indefinite strike
YDA demands of a new service structure and better wages
FAISALABAD:
The Young Doctors’ Association has warned t of an indefinite province-wide strike and protests if its demands of a new service structure and better wages are not met within 24 hours. Dr Muhammad Azam, the YDA local chapter coordinator, said a doctors’ convention will be held at Services Hospital in Lahore on Wednesday (today) after which the YDA will announce the schedule for the protest and strike. He said that the association had been peacefully demanding its legitimate rights, but the Health Department had been neglecting them. “Government hospital paramedics observed strike for a week and the government was forced to listen to their concerns,” he said. He urged the doctors to demonstrate “similar unity” in the YDA’s call for strike and protest. The government, he said, will automatically accede to their demands, he said.
