MULTAN:

At least 50 members of the She-male Association protested in Mailsi on Tuesday to register their anger against a local landlord and his men for beating, humiliating and trying to rape two members their community members on Monday night.

A case was registered at the Mailsi City police station, but no one has been arrested so far.

According to the complaint registered with the police, three men broke into Guru Payal’s dera on Monday night and tried to rape two eunuchs there. The eunuchs were also beaten and humiliated them by shaving their heads.

The protest was followed by a press conference by the She-male Association general secretary Saira, who requested the chief minister to take notice of the incident. She said the association will observe a country-wide protest if their oppressors were not arrested.

She also requested the chief minister to direct police to protect the victims saying she feared the accused would try to harm them.

Saira said that two eunuchs were having a birthday party at their dera, when the accused, Mehr Pappu, a local landlord, and two unidentified men entered there. She said they tried to rape the two at gun point.

She said when the eunuchs raised an alarm, the men beat them. She said Pappu shaved their heads with the help of his accomplices.

One of the victims, Neelam, told The Express Tribune that the three men were inebriated. She said they were using abusive language. She said their clothes were torn during the mistreatment. She said the men also took away three tolas of gold jewellery and Rs130,000 from them.

She said since the incident, she and her friend have been receiving death threats from Pappu for reporting the incident to the police.

Babli, another She-male Association member, said police will be responsible if her colleagues were harmed. She said, “It’s the dilemma of society that no one considers us as a part of the society.”
