JI rally: ‘Establishment trying to divide people’
Munawar Hasan says people should not expect rose petals after giving their vote to the looters.

The general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has alleged that the establishment was trying to divide the people on ethnic basis so that the government formed after the next general elections is divided and weak.
He was addressing a rally organised by the party’s District East wing at Lasbella Chowk.
Baloch said that JI had been saying explicitly since 9/11 that the Pakistani leadership has shown cowardice in managing their foreign affairs. It needed to stand up and stop the Nato supply by any means.
Thousands of people participated in the rally. Chairs were lined up from the Lasbella Chowk to the Fatima Bai Hospital. The chief of JI, Munawar Hasan, said that the people should not expect rose petals after giving their vote to the looters, while referring to the Pakistan Peoples Party. He asked the people what they had received in the last six to seven general elections and alleged that all the former politicians were brothers in crime.
He declared Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani as ‘illegitimate’ to hold office after his conviction and said that “he should step down to save his own dignity”.
Both the leaders were very critical of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). While criticizing the MQM, Baloch said that even the electronic media was biased and did not give any airtime to them despite such a successful rally. “The case would have been different if it had been the MQM to organise it.”
Hasan said that since MQM had come into being, Karachi had become the centre of target killings and extortion. He urged the people to stop being scared of the mafia and be able to say without fear that MQM was responsible for it.
