Hours after the hearing of a suo moto notice over allegations against Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry’s son, Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan accused real-estate tycoon Malik Riaz of hatching a conspiracy.
The chief justice had taken notice of rumors that his son Dr Arsalan Iftikhar had been involved in a business deal with property tycoon Riaz to ‘influence’ a number of cases pending before the court against him.
Riaz allegedly gave Rs300 million to Dr Arsalan, besides bearing expenses of his foreign visits, in return for influencing his father.
“Trapping and blackmailing the son of the chief justice is a grave crime,” Nisar said while addressing the media at Parliament House on Wednesday. He, however, did not comment on the case saying the matter was sub-judice, making it inappropriate to make a statement.
The opposition leader said that the time has come to tell the nation about the ‘deals’ between President Zardari and Malik Riaz.
He further claimed that Malik Riaz spent money on influential people and had even hired nine retired generals to fulfill his “evil designs”.
Nisar accused Riaz of encroaching lands of thousands of the people, and demanded that the matter of forced occupation from his constituency in Rawalpindi should be resolved.
Nisar also alleged that some well-known lawyers who were in forefront of the movement for the restoration of the judiciary were enjoying perks and privileges offered by Riaz.
Information minister’s statement
Meanwhile, Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the government had nothing to do with the case of Arsalan Iftikhar and it should not be dragged into the matter unnecessarily, according to a press release.
Talking to a private TV channel, Kaira said the media should not report allegations without evidence.
Asked whether in his view the chief justice should sit on a bench probing the case of his son, Kaira said, “The Supreme Court rules do not provide that a judge becomes a part of a bench if he/she has some personal interest. In the case of the prime minister, his relative did not sit on the bench hearing that petition.”
Asked whether Malik Riaz had close relationship with the president, the minister said that Riaz had good relations with the leadership of all political parties.

1170 kanals of land of forest department was encroached by Bahria Town for Bahria Golf City project. Bahria Town management should be punished for it.
As much as I hate (PML) N I must say ch nisar has done everything in his power to deter Malik riaz from taking advantage of poor citizens of Rawalpindi ... But I do believe no matter what Malik riaz does he will never be held accountable because he has the blessing of all the political parties and army and media personals .....
The trio in play again: Zardari, Malik Riaz, and Zahid Bukhari.
Ch. Nisar is right when he says Malik Riaz's fortunes should be investigated since he was a clerk to begin with but what about Sharif family's fortunes who were originally loh.rs.
Just 2-3weeks back we read Honorable President order Mr. Riaz Malik to pay $4-million for the release of some Pakistani stuck in Yemen (than interior minister was negotiating with kidnappers) it showed Mr. Riaz Malik's financial mussels. How many thousands of Acre land forcefully or by paying peanuts obsorbed in his housing schemes is another question. Well, it's about time to investigate same like another tycoons behind company ECL, another king without throne.

How can these generals work for a person like Malik Riaz? It's beyond me to comprehend! God help this country.
Arsalan always had the germs to invole himself in trouble. All his life, he had been doing some mess which grew with age and status. This is not a case against Judiciary as is being projected by some politicians, media and even judges. It is a simple case of fraud in whic the individual accused happened to be son of CJ. It does not make him part of the Judiciary. Arsalan is just Mr Arsalan in the eyes of Law and nothing more. He should be taken as an individual who can err.
@Mirza: You are everywhere ! This 'PCO judge' has really transformed into an honest judge. :)
Funny Guy..I dont know he say it right or not..
@Mirza: You are the biggest conspiracy theorist. You could outdo Stephen King.
mr chaudhary must realise that in a corrupt socispety a few judges cannot put the things right .Itvis there ,under his eyes.
@Mirza: Cry some more!
Ch nisar Sahab i watched your show at ARY news yesterday. You are one of the main reason y I'm still going to vote for N. U did a great job in PAC. You are by far the most bravest guy in the national assembly. Keep up the good work
Nisar said "He further claimed that Malik Riaz spent money on influential people and had even hired nine retired generals to fulfill his “evil designs”." One man can hire 9 generals and CJ's son so easily. Yet all the corruption is in elected govt. 300 to 400 millions in cash and lots of trips a grade 18 govt employ's salary cannot afford. No wonder the PCO CJ jumped on the case to quash it so it cannot be tried later after his retirement.
