KARACHI:

The pharmaceutical industry – that has been raising the issue of price increase for a long time – finally got some attention as the federal minister assured government’s support to the industry on the visit to Pharma Bureau. Taking advantage of this, Pharma Bureau Chairman Asif Jooma asked for a 15% price adjustment for inflation as the industry faces high input costs and rupee depreciation against dollar and other major currencies.

The government is committed to provide all possible support to the $2 billion pharmaceutical sector to ensure availability and development of quality drugs in domestic market, National Regulations and Services Federal Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said during a reception held in her honour by the bureau on Wednesday.
