LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday criticised the Gulberg Town Municipal Administration (TMA) for tearing down a wall in front of the Pakistan Cricket Board headquarters at Gaddafi Stadium, saying it would hurt efforts for the resumption of international cricket in the country.

Justice Ibadur Rehman made these remarks while hearing a contempt petition moved by the PCB against TMA officials. The judge sought a reply from the police and the district government in two days as to why they had demolished the wall and detained three PCB guards.

The Gulberg ASP told the court that the town municipal officer had not told him about the stay order against the demolition of the wall. “No one should be mistaken in thinking that they will not be punished for failing to implement the court’s orders,” Justice Rehman said.
