Tehran huddle: Zardari invited to NAM summit

Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

KARACHI: Iran has invited President Asif Ali Zardari to the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to be held in Tehran in August.

Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Ali Akbar Salehi extended the formal invitation at a meeting with the president at Bilawal House in Karachi on Friday. Apart from the NAM summit, Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest were also discussed in the meeting.

According to President Zardari, being immediate neighbours of Afghanistan, the two countries have a major role to play in promoting peace and stability in the war-torn country.
