Urban development: LDA approves Rs142m road widening scheme
Road project will take about four months to complete and will benefit some 50,000 vehicles a day.

The Lahore Development Authority will widen and improve the four-kilometre road from Neelam Block, Allama Iqbal Town, to Multan Road, along the right side of Kharak drain, at a cost of Rs142.33 million.
The LDA governing body made this decision at a meeting on Monday chaired by District Coordination Officer and LDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, according to a press release. The road project will take about four months to complete and will benefit some 50,000 vehicles a day.
The governing body also approved a project to build a community centre on three kanals in Garden Town within eight months.
It also approved several projects for LDA Avenue-1, including spending of Rs150.66 million for the installation of 250-watt sodium lights on the main roads. The body decided to charge a flat parking fee of Rs30 for 24 hours, instead of incremental charges on an hourly basis, at the D-Point Car Parking Plaza at Shah Aalmi.
