Abortion allegations: Plea against Meera delayed till May 19

Petitioner said the actress and her accomplices had committed a crime by ending the pregnancy.

A petition seeking criminal proceedings against Meera, her fiancé, three doctors and others over the allegedly illegal abortion of the actress’s child has been adjourned till May 19 as Additional District and Sessions Judge Rai Muhammad Ayub Khan was on leave on Wednesday. Petitioner Muhammad Islam submitted that he had read about the alleged abortion in the newspaper. He said that Meera, her fiancé Captain Naveed, Dr Shahida Khawaja, Dr Waseem and Dr Nasreen of National Hospital Defence, and others had committed a crime by ending the actress’s pregnancy. He said that he had tried to get a case registered against them at Defence B police station, but the station house officer ignored him.
