Schneider to sponsor Pakistani students

ISLAMABAD: French global company, Schneider, will be giving Science and Information Technology scholarships for Pakistani students for some top universities in France, according to Munib Khawaja, Vice President IT department Schneider France (Pakistan and Afghanistan). He said this during a meeting at the Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) central office in Islamabad Saturday evening.

“We are making significant efforts to offer more and more scholarships, fellowships and internships to the Pakistani youth in the sector of Science and Information Technology as well expanding investment to improve effective usage of electric power in the country,” Khawaja said. He further stated that Schneider sees Pakistan as an ‘important country’ to make new investments in and it will initiate projects keeping in view the specific needs of the energy sector.

He also visited various universities located in Islamabad. In the meeting, Munawar Iqbal, Central President PCA gave a detailed outlook of the computer and IT industry and the role of PCA for the promotion of this vital sector of the economy.

Mr Khawaja said that he met senior officials of the Ministry of Information and Technology who welcomed the suggestions made by his company as well as the PCA in regard to effective power management in the local industry. Naguibullah Malik, Secretary IT and Telecom, was also present at the meeting and said that by using effective technology with the help of French Companies 40 per cent energy could be saved.

Both Khawaja and Malik discussed the potential this exchange had in different sectors of Pakistan’s economy. They said that more international companies like Schneider France should invest in these areas to earn lucrative returns.
