Two policemen were shot and injured by the kidnappers while chasing them on their way out of the city on Sharqpur Road. They were driving away after kidnapping Mian Amjad Latif, brother of MNA Mian Javed Latif. Latif’s family said the kidnappers shot him in the leg and beat up others on putting up resistance. Meanwhile, a protest demonstration was staged by supporters of the PML-N MNA against the incident. They blocked the main road connecting the city to Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sargodha by burning used tyres.
