LAHORE: Chief justice of the Lahore High Court on Monday has sought a reply from federal government and assistance of the attorney general on a petition which seeks to make Urdu the official language.
Petitioner Advocate Rana Ilmuddin Ghazi said the Quaid-i-Azam in 1948 had announced that Urdu would be made the official language of the country but that has not been done. He said the Constitution had also laid down a provision to make Urdu the official language within a specific period but that deadline has also passed.
The chief justice heard initial arguments from the petitioner and adjourned the hearing for the next week.
The petitioner requested that directions be issued to the government to immediately act upon the desire of the Quaid-i-Azam.

Urdu is national language and this what the founder of the nation said. It is the language of communication between all provinces. However I believe that in addition of Urdu, Pushto Punjabi, Billochi and Sindhi should be Provincial official languages of each province and the job should not be provided to a person in the province if he/she does not understand, write and speak local language of his/her province.No Pujabi will get provincial job in Blochistan if he does not know billochi. No Billochi will get the job provincial services in Sindh if he/she does not understand Sindhi. No Sindhi will get the provincial job in Khybar Pukhtoonkhwa if he/she does not understand pushto. It will reduce disliking and hate between all the provinces. Mind it I m Urdu speaking and I firmly believe that all Urdu speakers should learn Sindhi language if they want get job in provincial services.
The importance of Urdu is that will keep the nation united as it is understood all over the language. Similarly the importance of English is also important if u want to live in international community. Iftikhar Ul Haq Siddiqiui
Urdu is hindi written in Arabic script with Arabic and pershian words added.in India it is spoken in only UP Bihar M P Rajsthan but it is understood all over .

@Sher Awan: It is the Indian mohajir philosophy. Islam, Pakistan and Urdu all come together. Everyone who does not subscribe to this philosophy is either a traitor or a heretic or both.
The imposition of Urdu and the mullah version of Islam are the root causes of discord in the country and have severely damaged the unity of the people of Pakistan.

Urdu is foreign to this land, this land has rich languages like Punjabi, Pushto, Sindhi, Siraiki and Balochi. Bengalis ran away from this country because of this "Urdu" controversy. Hardly 5 to 7 percent are native speakers of Urdu in Pakistan. For stronger Pakistan, lets return to sanity and our roots. Make all genuine and true languages of this land as National language.
