According to the FIR filed by the victim’s father Mohammad Shafiq at the Shadbagh police station, his 12 year old son Mohammad Jamil was studying the Quran at Madrassah Aziziya from Nazim-e-Ahla (Mohtmam) Qari Muhammad Jameel and an unknown teacher for at least four months.
Both the qari and teacher escaped before the police raided the madrassah. The madrassah has been sealed while a search operation is under way for the escapees.
The FIR further stated that, a few days ago, Jamil complained to his mother about severe abdominal pain, caused by the qari’s alleged torture, after which he was taken to four different private and government hospitals for treatment but eventually succumbed to the injuries, breathing his last late Sunday night.
The Shadbagh police station has registered a case against Qari Jameel and the unknown teacher, who reportedly belongs to Azad & Jammu Kashmir, under Section 302 vide FIR no 370/2012 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Talking to The Express Tribune, The Shadbagh Station House Officer (SHO) said that the victim’s body has been taken into custody and shifted to a postmortem house for autopsy.
The victim’s father told The Express Tribune, reiterating, that his child died due to the severe torture of the qari as well negligence by doctors.
He has demanded for immediate arrest of the accused.

The show may just be starting. Wait till the religious right come to the Qari's rescue. They are going to blame the media for maligning Islam. Torturing young children at these madrassas is not uncommon. They do it in the name of religion. Its' about time that the lawmakers take notice of this case. Passing a bill in the parliament against corporal punishment is long overdue.
@Faraz: what is beautiful about your religion. Be specific please?
@Pakistan politics: nobody is bashing Islam or should but only the MULLAHS who have done nothing but spread intolerance/hate and misogyny in the society. Extremism and sidelining women ....that's all they have done.
Mullahs at work again. Either they teach extremism in the name of Islam, or kill people like this. What have they done to our beautiful religion.
another excuse to bash Islam
unfortunately our madrasas are root cause of most of the problems in the country. Pakistan would be such a great country if these madrasas taught the real teaching of our beloved Prophet Mohammad (pbuh)
@ The Truth,
i don't blame the islamic knowledge, i agree islamic knowledge should be given to Muslim Students, but y madarssas if it can be given by our normal education system. as we all know extremist forces operate mainly from madarssas, you must have seen arms being recovered from Madarssas.. and besides this all students should have a wide spectrum of knowledge not only islamic.. they should be given oppertunity to come in touch with other religeous minorities and liberals in school system so that they could develop sense of tolerance which is lacking in our public.
The gift of Saudi Arabia...
@Sunny... You can take the act of someone to blame the whole Madarssas... why not blame the individual instead of organization..
Why cant we shut them all . How many Innocent children are going to Die . Parents should stop sending their children there.
The Reality of Madarssas.....
