LAHORE:

A consumer court on Wednesday issued notice to the proprietor of GA Garments for April 27 in a suit seeking damages of Rs150,000 from the tailors for not stitching a suit on time.

Petitioner Malik Muhammad Iqbal submitted that on December 1, he handed the respondent material for a pair of pants, a jacket and a shirt as well as Rs2,400 for stitching.

He said the tailor had told him he would finish the suit within a week. Iqbal said the tailor missed several deadlines to finish the clothes, after which he served him a legal notice.

He sought Rs150,000 in damages for “mental agony”. Ashfaq Bhatti, the proprietor of GM Garments, rejected the petitioner’s claim, saying he had made a suit for him.

He told The Express Tribune that the petitioner had given him another suit to use for measurements for his new clothes, even though he had warned Iqbal that the suit would be too small for him.

“He said that it made no difference, so I made the suit for him,” he said.
