Bail plea of man claiming to be husband of SHO rejected

Man claims wife left him, woman SHO claims he tried to abduct her.

RAWALPINDI:

If not true, the narrative that Sardar Shafqat Hussain sketches to prove his claim of being the husband of a woman police officer is indeed elaborate. The judge, however, seems unconvinced.

Hussain was arrested on Tuesday by the Race Course Police after Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Munir Ahmed dismissed his plea of a pre-arrest bail.

The accused, in his application to the court, had claimed to have married Women Police Station Rawalpindi SHO Bushra Batool seven years ago. He claimed she had both of their children aborted and then refused to live with him. To further concrete his claim, he said he gave Batool Rs3.5 million and 80 tolas of gold as wedding gift.

The only downside to Hussain’s story is that he does not have the documents to prove it.

He claims that their marriage certificate is in the possession of Batool’s father, and the two witnesses who co-signed the certificate are also from Batool’s family — all of whom have refused to appear before the court.

On the other hand, Batool has denied all of Hussain’s claims. In an FIR registered on March 21, SHO Batool alleged that Hussain, along with an accomplice, tried to stop her official vehicle at night in a bid to kidnap her. But when she refused to open her car door, the man smashed her car’s windscreen and fled, threatening of dire consequences.
