Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab have sent legal notices worth Rs10 billion each to Younis Habib under the defamation act, Express News reported on Tuesday.
Habib had claimed that he gave hefty amounts to Nawaz and his brother Shahbaz on behalf of intelligence agencies.
The notices, served through famous legal firm Cornelius, Lane and Mufti Advocates and Solicitors, stated that Sharif brothers are respectable citizens of the country.
It further stated that Habib tried to conduct a media trial of Nawaz and Shahbaz by levelling false and slanderous allegations against them, just to defame them in public.
Denying all the accusations made by Habib, Shahbaz Sharif had earlier said that the scandal was a part of the many conspiracies being hatched against PML-N.
“Habib changed his stance four times … Commenting on the character of a person like Habib is equal to wasting time,” he had said.
Shahbaz also called the Mehrangate scandal the “biggest lie of the century”.

Amazing, only in Pakistan everyone sends notices, rather than actually filing a civil lawsuit, must be because in a lawsuit the truth will come out, writing a letter of no value only gets news paper headlines

This is interesting. Everyone knows that Younus Habib has no money now .So, to sue him for such a hefty amount is simply a scare tactic. It is his[Yonus] word against his word[Nawaz]. However, Younus did come on the TV and stated very clearly that he personally handed money to Nawaz. Can Nawaz come on TV and deny it.
Till such time and the outcome of the case, the public will probably give Younus the benefit of the doubt.
On comparing him with Zardari, Mian Sahib should also send one defamation noctice to Imran.

The other day I was listening to a well-reputed journalist Arif Nizami, who was quoting Nawaz Sharif as ADMITTING in private meetings that he and other leaders did actually take money from the ISI at the time of the formation of IJI. So seems like this is just a diversionary tactic for the time being but it will be interesting to see how Younus Habib responds. The issue will ultimately be resolved in the SC anyway.
Good move Mian Sahab! Hashmi and others should follow. I think Imran khan desperately need some political lessons. Always bad mouthing and throwing dirt on others. Show some political maturity for god sake. And Pti trolls need to growup! Seriously. Get a life.

why did Shareef take one month to file defamation notice....??? its just like someone slapped somone one month ago and now the recipient is retaliating....that means that evidence is now erased due to efforts during 4 weeks.....so defamation notice can be served easily......:-)
The whole saga including Memogate was cooked up by the establishment to discredit the politicians. The Military would never want the politicians to become too popular otherwise their unlimited budget might be in jeopardy. The bumbling politicians are making the task of the establishment easier by indulging in rampant corruption. Either way, Pakistan is the one that is hurting.
There was no need to serve the defamation notice to Younis Habib.
He is no longer a part of the game. His time is over.
He wants to make money from every situation.

All these 'two-for-a-penny' worth thugs with same worth, more or less, of reputation and standing in public-eyes, are going around sending notices for restoring 'penny-worth-reputations' for millions and billons as if money can buy 'good name'---- Ha!
I hope this time he doesn't attack SC along with his supporters the way he attacked SC back in 1996 when they rule a decision against him.

This act proves that Mian Nawaz Sharif has not taken any money. So, Younis Habib make baseless allegations against Sharif Brothers.
Javed Hashmi shall also send a legal notice to Yousaf Advocate and Younis Habib. Otherwise, Imran Khan shall oust Hashmi from PTI.
And what if Habib's allegation turns out to be a fact!
