One of the boys, who went missing from the Saddar Women’s Police Station on Wednesday, returned home on Saturday. But according to his mother, he has left home again.
Two boys, 15-year-old Usman and 11-year-old Noor Alam, were brought to the police station by an NGO, after they were reported lost at a mela in Hyderabad. They were supposed to be handed over to their guardians on Wednesday but confusion broke out when the boys could not be found at the police station. Usman’s family alleged that the police had asked for money in exchange of the boys but never handed them over. On the other hand, the female SHO Hajra Usman not also denied the allegations, but insisted that the boys had left with Usman’s family.
On Saturday morning, Usman returned to his house in Korangi. According to the boy’s brother, Usman and Noor Alam escaped from the police station on Wednesday and went to a mazar for ziarat. However, the family could not share details about the boys’ three-day absence and Noor Alam’s location.
The women’s police station had come under fire after the boys’ disappearance. The home department has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
It is yet to be confirmed if the police have been able to trace Noor Alam’s family.
