Promotions of around 58 police inspectors from across the province were approved after being suggested by the departmental promotion committee. The notification is expected to be issued in the next couple of days.
Earlier on March 28, around 180 DSPs were demoted according to the orders of the Supreme Court. The court had given orders for reversing all the out-of-turn promotions.
According to Sindh Establishment DIG Shahid Hayat, the names of inspectors were finalised on the basis of their seniority by the promotion committee which was presided over by the home secretary. About 28 officers belong to Karachi while the rest are from other cities of the province.
There is a dire shortage of officers in the police ranks. Before the DSPs were demoted over 4,000 policemen were also demoted in the last week of March.
