Sindh government lifts ban on carrying weapons

Sindh home minister ends four-year-old ban, people can carry weapons but not exhibit them.

KARACHI:
According to a new notification issued by the provincial government, the people of Sindh can now carry weapons but are not allowed to display them in public.

The ban on carrying weapons was imposed in the province four years back owing to the deteriorating law and order situation. However, it was taken back on Monday (today) after Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Syed Sohail Akbar Shah sent a summary to Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan maintaining that the common man felt insecure over the ban.

Shah stated that the miscreants were openly carrying weapons while the common men, who become terror victims, have been facing difficulty on not being able to carry weapons for self-defence.

The notification was issued by Section Officer Abdul Hameed Khan Niazi.

The police and other law enforcement agencies have been directed to use clause 244 against those who are caught exhibiting their weapons.
