The Ministry of Food Security and Research is planning to submit a summary regarding the export of 100,000 live animals. These include goats, cows, camels and other livestock which are to be exported to the Middle East, Afghanistan and Iran, sources have said.
Talking to APP, an official in the ministry said that statistical figures indicate that there is a surplus of livestock in the country. This may be exported abroad, and a proposal regarding this is to be moved to the Economic Coordination Committee. Once the committee approves it, it will then be moved to the cabinet for final approval.
The official said that the ministry expected all processes for the export of livestock to be completed till May. He said that the authority to issue licences for the export of livestock had been transferred to the Ministry of Food Security from the Ministry of Commerce. The director general Livestock had also been transferred to the former, he noted.

Extremely shocking for country which had yeped its way from last years floods and a continum of militancy ,, Pakistan is a luckie abode after all the livestock is increasing
It is a good thing to export live animals and that we have "Surplus" of livestock. But i think before exporting it, it should be better if the ministry made sure that a large percentage of people who can't afford to eat meat or mutton, get to do so at a reasonable price. Then alone should it be exported. The price is out of reach of many, please consider the masses also.
I wonder why the prices of mutton and beef have gone so high in recent days!
