Syed appealed to the Hazara community and Baba Haider Zaman, chairperson and founder of the Tehreek-e-Suba Hazara (TSH), that if they wanted a new province for themselves then they should campaign for it in Hazara, rather than in Karachi, since it contributed to the friction in the metropolis.
He was addressing a rally organised by the ANP in his honour at Defence Mor. Syed was elected as Senator in the recent Senate elections.
The ANP rally had blocked off Shahrah-e-Faisal, the main thoroughfare in Karachi resulting in massive traffic jams on all roads emptying into the corridor.
Earlier, Baba Zaman had addressed a TSH rally on Sunday near Mazar-e- Quaid, attended by hundreds of people belonging to Hazara, Abbottabad and Kohistan.
The TSH chairperson said that that if their demands were not met and they were not given their rights, the party would retaliate in the same way as the Baloch were.
"“If the rulers want to save Pakistan and are loyal to the people, then they should allow the demands for new provinces.”
Zaman also praised the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for supporting the cause of the Hazara people. “The MQM took a stand when our own people did not. In return, the party has our support.”
