‘No new taxes in the next budget’

Fauzia Wahab meets adviser to governor in Multan.

MULTAN:

The next budget will impose no new taxes and will also provide unprecedented relief to the people of Pakistan, claimed Fauzia Wahab, the political secretary to President Asif Ali Zardari.

She was talking, on Friday, to Saleemur Rehman Meo, adviser to Governor Latif Khosa.

She said that PPP’s victory in the Senate elections had cleared all doubts raised by the opposition and exposed the conspiracies of “enemies of democracy” in Pakistan. “Our workers also made us proud in the by-elections,” she said.

She added that people of Pakistan had reiterated the faith and belief they had in the leadership of PPP especially the policies of President Zardari.

Wahab said the PPP’s slogan for the next general elections would be “the welfare of the people”. She appreciated Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani’s efforts to develop remote areas, particularly south Punjab.

“It is the prime minister who steered the movement for a separate province in south Punjab in the right direction,” Wahab said.

She called the demand the “voice of the people of southern Punjab”. “Prime Minister Gillani has declared that Bahawalpur will be made a part of the new province,” added the political secretary to the president.
