Contempt hearing: Chief secretary exempted from personal appearance

The secretaries are charged with writing derogatory remarks about the courts on the termination report of an employee.

LAHORE: Justice Khalid Mehmood of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday exempted the chief secretary from personal appearance before the court in contempt of court proceedings against him and two other secretaries.

The judge, however, directed the chief secretary to file his written reply. The secretaries are charged with writing derogatory remarks about the courts on the termination report of an employee.

The Punjab energy and health secretaries are to appear before the court on the next date of hearing to be fixed by the LHC registrar’s office.
