Search Continues: Suspects taken into custody from Rabia City

The police, in a joint operation with the Rangers, conducted an hour-long search operation in Rabia City.

Around 50 suspects were taken into custody during separate day and night search operations in various parts of the city, on Tuesday.


The police, in a joint operation with the Rangers, conducted an hour-long search operation in Rabia City in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. At least half a dozen suspects were detained and shifted to an undisclosed location. Although the identities and political affiliations of the suspects were not disclosed, sources said that they were drug peddlers and also involved in criminal activities. Weapons were found in possession of the suspected criminals.

In retaliation to the operation, unidentified armed men started aerial firing which caused panic in Rabia City and its surrounding areas, but the situation was controlled by the law enforcement agencies.

Operations were also carried out in other areas, including Machchar Colony, Mohammadi Colony, Baldia Town, Saeedabad, Jackson, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad and Pehlwan Goth.

All the localities were cordoned off during the operation. Sources said that a majority of the suspects were released after questioning, while around 50 remained in custody. According to an official statement by the Rangers, 11 suspects were detained and six weapons were found along with a large quantity of ammunition.
