He said that all parties wanted a free and independent Election Commission and that the previous deadlock had been resolved after the government conceded some ground on the Chief Election Commissioner.
“We have agreed about the new Chief Election Commissioner, that no extension can be given to the Commissioner under the constitution, this was clear in the 18th amendment,” Nisar said.
He added that with one sticking point resolved, the next deadlock was on the make up of the caretaker cabinet which will take over reigns for a limited period of time between the end of term of the current government and before the new assembly is sworn in.
Talks continue: Could caretakers present budget?
Negotiations between Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) earlier saw a wide range of topics discussed, according to various sources privy to the talks.
One of the more interesting topics is when to set up the caretaker government.

it proves Imran Khan's remark that PPP and PMLn are united when it comes to thier commen interests......why didn't they talk so much effectively on Price hike issue as they did for 20th ammendment?????????? coz it is general public issue..... how pathetic
Seeing is believing. All political gimmick to serve their own purpose. Nothing for the country & future generations.
a rare YES from Mr. No . . .:-)
Imran Khan is the only person am concerned with, i dont give a damn who joins his party.
Democracy is not perfect however it is the best form of government. if this government is unpopular and the people are not satisfied it can be booted out by the people. hope fully people of Pakistan will excercise there will at the ballot box. People of Pakistan who do not pay tax are the ones stopping the development of the country and the masses. the media should focus on them as well. change will come to Pakistan Inshallah but it must come through the ballot box. we must not forget that there have been challenges such as floods and terrorism. let us focus on the positive and all of us become honest and patriotic and passionate about Pakistan fpr the benefit of the masses and the country. yes the government is visionless and there is limited to nil governess.
@Tehreek-e-Insaf FATA: The opposition party is PML-N and the treasury benches is represented by PPP ( I presume PPP takes Mafamat ki siasat group or MQM , ANP and PML-Q, FATA independents, JUI- F etc. into confidence).
PTI may be consulted but not necessarily as they are not in parliment. When the Pirs and Makdooms of the PTI make it to the parliment after the elections they too can be officially part of the consultative process.
@Tehreek-e-Insaf FATA: Most other political parties are part of the status-quo. So, it wouldn't have mattered much if they were included. That includes Tehrik-e-Insaf, which is now a get-together of ex-PML(s) and ex-PPP members, representatives of the status quo.
Do you all know PML(n) and in fact all the polictical paerties are shy to have an email or web facility, even if they have an insignifant and not so known one, they will never bother to reply.
If they have slighest feeloing for the Masses theyshould respond to all blogs and articles written for and against them, BUT they will not> why should they. Time is money???
Where is the justification, amongst all wrongs being committed on dailybasis?? How can you RIGHT an established by SC fact. Faulty electoral roles candidates sent home, now we are out to declare them RIGHT. Have mercy and be afraid of the Almighty creator, all are answerable. Fake degree holders boasting around and faultily governing the masses.?? Have faithj in the Almighty if you are honestly fighting corruption, because you are not fighting for yourself are you???
Save the so called democracy, but people have to face the music. 1) External debt 60 years $37 billion, last 4 years $70 billion (IMF report) 2) 8500 billion rupees corruption in last 4 years (Transperancy International report) 3) 50% population living below poverty line (UN report) 4) 60% parlimentarians with fake degrees. ( HEC pak report) 5) 60% parliamentarians with zero tax return including zardari & gilani ( FBR report) 6) 35 million bogus votes in 2008 election ( ECP & NADRA report) 7) 39 supreme court decisions not implemented. & IPPS, NICL, HAJ corruption & the upcoming 3G/4G contact allotment r just a few acheivements for the champions of democracy.
Whay don't they have these discussion on the Assembly floor so that all members have the opportunity to speak? This is clear indication that something is going "under the table".
not only ppp and pml-n all parties represented in the parliament are part of talk to form an independent, free and fair election commission. If a party wants to stay out of parliament because the parliament is 'status quo' that party needs to revisit its policies and start contesting elections.
PPP & PML-N discussing future of Pakistan. Where is INPUT from all other Political Parties? Something Fishy? #StatusQuo.
