CID arrests three alleged target killers from Mauripur

Police believes the men are involved in the murder of three Shia lawyers, and have confessed to 8 murders.

KARACHI: Police on Thursday claim to have arrested three men who were allegedly involved in the murder of three lawyers in Karachi on January 19, Express News reported.

The Central Investigation Department (CID) presented three masked men and weapons, during a press briefing on Thursday. They claimed that they had arrested suspected terrorists Taufiq Ansari, Salahuddin alias Israel and Maulana Mohammad Rashid from from Mauripur. They also recovered weapons from their possession.

According to the police, the three have allegedly confessed to killing City Court typist Mukhtar Abbas along with eight other people.

Police said the accused had confessed to killing Ansar Ali, Molana Abdul Kareem Naqshbandi, Qari Habib and attacked a Qadiani Dr Badar, and Saleh Zikri. They said that they had been acting on the orders of their commander Mehmood Babar, alias Dorki Shah.

Police has recovered three Kalashnikovs automatic rifles, two pistols, five hand grenades and two motorcycles from their possession.

Police believes the men wanted to target lawyers and doctors on sectarian basis.

The accused had previously been arrested within the jurisdiction of PS Kalri, Baghdadi and Napier (CID) in connection with seven different cases. On Thursday, 10 different FIR's were lodged against arrested criminals at CID, officials said.
