LAHORE: US Embassy Commercial Counsellor Brian McCleary said Wednesday that he was very optimistic about future of Pakistan-US bilateral relations.

Addressing the Executive Committee Members of American Business Forum (ABF), he expressed hope for a healthy bilateral relation between the two countries.

“The future of Pakistan and US bilateral relations lies in commerce and trade and I am here to promote it,” he asserted. He said Pakistan has developed viable commercial centres including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad with huge labour force and traditionally sound entrepreneurs.

According to him, both terrorism and security issues are hampering the economic growth here but still Pakistan could be a potential destination for investment in energy, technology, health, education, travel and tourism sectors.

He said Pakistan is the sixth most populated country of the world, with growing number of consumers, workforce and entrepreneurs. He assured full facilitation through his office in trade expansion, exchange of trade delegations and business opportunities.

McCleary also said that a technology conference was also due in the month of May. He dubbed the ABF as a bridge builder between the US and Pakistan and suggested the ABF leadership to work on business clusters in collaboration with their US partners.

Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Qureshi – ABF President  said the forum came into being in 2008 with the objective of facilitating the US-based Pakistani businessmen, having economic links in Punjab, through  lobbying and informing about emerging opportunities and challenges.

The present strength of ABF members is 42 and it is likely to reach 60 by the end of current calendar year, he added.

Mr. Mcleary the US Pakistan relations recently are worst. With the exception of Visas for US all is negative including the Drones towards Pakistan. Pakistan patronizing America by opting for Boeing aircraft with GE engines. Operating the 1st Boeing 777 non stop between Pakistan and US. With our war against terrorism, we only recieved terrorism for fighting for US. We now have opening for FDI for 4G LTE licenses for spectrum auction and licensing. Qualcomm, and US operators are encouraged to participate at fraction of the cost of spectrum from Pakistan. We like contracting for Boeing Aircraft.
