ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has trained more than 40 of its senior officers for holding Senate elections.

According to an ECP spokesperson, the training was conducted from January 24 and 27 in collaboration with the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES). ECP Secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan, in the concluding session of the training, urged the officers to follow the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He quoted from a speech of the Quaid-e-Azam to civil officers in Peshawar in April 1948:

“The first thing that I want to tell you is that you should never be influenced by any pressure. If you want to raise the prestige and greatness of Pakistan you must not fall victim to any pressure.”
