PMD issues alert for rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in Karachi on Eid
Westerly wind system affecting most parts of country is expected to bring strong winds, rain to several districts

Karachi is likely to experience rain and thunderstorms on Eid, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Friday.
A westerly wind system affecting most parts of the country is expected to bring strong winds and rain to several districts. Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, and Shikarpur may witness rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while Jacobabad, Sukkur, Jamshoro, and Hyderabad are also expected to see rain and gusty winds.
Other districts, including Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Matiari, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Dadu, are likely to experience rainfall, with a risk of lightning in several areas.

The PMD said rain and thunderstorms are also expected in the outskirts of Karachi. The city’s maximum temperature today is expected to range between 29°C and 31°C. On Saturday, the weather in Karachi is likely to remain mostly cloudy, while on Sunday, partly cloudy conditions are expected with temperatures reaching up to 33°C.
A powerful thunderstorm system struck Karachi on Wednesday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds across the city. Korangi recorded the highest rainfall at 55.6 millimetres, while other areas received between 15mm and 35mm.
The severe weather caused multiple incidents, leaving at least 19 people dead and several others injured. The system continued on Thursday, with moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and isolated downpours expected, as daytime temperatures dropped noticeably.
