KARACHI:

Members of the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan have asked Indonesia’s consul general in Karachi to adopt the Turkish model whereby those Pakistani nationals who have had US or UK visas in the past should automatically qualify for Indonesian visa upon arrival in the host country.

“I’ll put forward your demands and concerns in the meeting of all Indonesian ambassadors and consuls general, which will take place in Jakarta next month,” said Indonesian Consul General Rossalis R Adenan during an interactive session on his country’s visa policy held on Friday evening.

Adenan said visa applications needed approval from Indonesia’s Clearing House, which worked under the Ministry of Justice. While agreeing that the visa policy for Indian and Pakistani nationals was different, he said he had to adhere to regulations of Indonesia as consul general on the one hand, and try to increase the number of Pakistani visitors on the other.
