Electricity supply to the city was stopped at around 4 am on Monday because the electricity cables snapped because of a heavy fog.
According to the media manager of the Sukkur Electric Power Company, Abdul Sattar Memon, the power supply to more than 200 feeders stopped because of the fog. Sub-divisional officer Ayaz Shaikh said that the fault occurred at around 4 am and the supply to nine feeders of the Arain grid station was cut.
The supply to other feeders was restored at around 11:45 am, except at the Station Road feeder because of the linemen were laying cables in the area.
According to a Sepco lineman, the high and low-tension cables in the city are worn out and need to be replaced. He said that the cables are so fragile that they will snap because of wind, rain or even fog. Regarding Monday’s power outage he said that low-tension conductors snapped at different places.
