This is her second visit to Karachi after 1999, but the sixth visit to the country, according to her national manager, evangelist Robinson Asghar. On her last visit to Lahore in 2003, Hickey drew a crowd of about 125,000 people to the hockey stadium on the last day of her healing gathering and cured many by her spiritual powers, he said.
On this visit, she will attend a seminar at Expo Centre on January 19 on the development of the Christian community and hold three healing sessions from January 20 to 22. “We are expecting the same number of people as in Lahore in 2003,” said Asghar.
Elvis Stephen, a representative of the Christian community in Karachi, is among the many people who plan to attend Hickey’s healing sessions this time. “She conducts prayers and God has blessed her with healing powers,” he said. Just like different religious leaders have different qualities, healing is her forte. “Hickey is part of the healing ministries and her healing crusade has cured people I know, including Muslims,” claimed Asghar.
Hickey’s sessions include belief lessons. Then the people who have been cured give testimonies in front of a crowd. That is why people of all faiths are allowed to attend her healing sessions, Asghar said.
Michael Javed, a former MPA, affirmed that Hickey was highly regarded in the Christian community in the country. He said that she was also known to have cured many people of their ailments during her visits. She comes to Pakistan on her own expenditure, he added.
However, the Marilyn Hickey Ministries have been criticised because of fundraising.
Many of Hickey’s followers and partners receive letters asking them to send ‘seed faith’ offering (money) for the ministry to reap and receive blessings.

These are highly successful events. I grew back my limb which got amputated several years ago. This woman is truly unbelievable. I also remember seeing a dead guy come alive, which was just awe inspiring!
