Mouse trap: Two children die after eating poisoned guavas

UMERKOT:

Two children died and another is in serious condition after they ate poisoned guavas in Gorasar village about 12 kilometres from the city.

When traditional methods did not work they were taken to the district headquarters hospital late at night.

Ramesh, 12, died early in the morning while Jhanjoo, 8, died the afternoon. Jumoon, 7, is admitted.

A landlord, Attai Nohri, had kept some guavas in his wheat stock in order to kill mice but the children, whose family had moved to the village recently, unintentionally ate the fruit.

Jhanjoo’s father, Chandoo, went to the police to lodge an FIR against the landlord. But according to the SHO, Sanam Laghari, both parties eventually settled the issue as it was an accident.
