Broadband: New players on the cards

PTA has planned to auction available spectrum in 1.9 and 3.5 GHz bands in February

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has planned to auction available spectrum in 1.9 and 3.5 GHz bands in February, according to a statement released on Tuesday. The auction of additional spectrum of this technology was decided by the government due to growing demand of Wireless Broadband Services. The auction will enable new investors to enter the market and increase the competitive environment. It will also facilitate the customers in getting good quality of services on affordable rates. Wireless broadband technologies were deployed in 2004.
