KARACHI: The Indus River Commission adopted a resolution on Saturday to demolish the private dykes set up by the Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDCL) and Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) inside the River Indus as it obstructs the flow of water, leading to the risk of flooding. The companies set up the dykes to protect their installations in Ghotki, Sukkur and Guddu. Several warnings went unheeded. The dykes have reduced the river’s width from 14 km to five kilometres.
