SUKKUR: A shutter-down strike was observed in Kashmore on Tuesday after a seven-year-old Hindu boy, identified as Sagar Kumar, was kidnapped on his way back from tuitions at the Roshan Tara School on Monday.

Unidentified men on a motorcycle kidnapped the boy, after which Sagar’s parents informed the police.

Hundreds of protesters led by Hindu Panchayat president Mukhi Rano Mal and Shahree Action Committee president Abdul Rauf Khoso criticised the performance of the police and blocked the Indus highway for about five hours, after which, MNA Gul Mohammad Jakhrani and Kashmore SP investigations Yar Mohammad Rind reached the scene to negotiate with them.

The demonstration ended after the officials assured the protesters that Sagar will be located within two days. “We have arrested around eight to ten suspects in raids across the city,” said DPO Abdul Salam Shaikh, who added that he was optimistic that the boy will be found soon.
