HYDERABAD:

A group of riotous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers beat up journalists outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Friday.

Three television cameramen were badly beaten up with sticks when they intervened to help out an elderly man who was in the middle of an argument while seeking passage for his motorbike.

The protesters, led by PTI’s labour wing provincial vice president Mustansir Billah, were occupying the main road.

The journalists were identified as Dhoom television cameraman Muhammad Ashraf, WAQT tv’s Jahanzeb and Apna tv’s Nadeem Khan.

Although Billah apologised to journalists and office bearers of the press club, he later denied any connection with the troublemakers. Their identities were not disclosed.

However, one of the assaulted cameramen registered an FIR with the Cantt police station under sections 147, 148, 504, 506 and 337.

@Falcon: @Omer: Javed Hashmi said that Imran was personally scrutinizing leaders who joined the party. I'm sure Billah would have also been scruitinized and have Imran's blessing in this.
