ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has streamlined the driving license process by introducing a fee depositing facility in its one-window operation booth for the convenience of license applicants.

The new National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) kiosk was inaugurated by Inspector General of Police Bani Amin Khan on Monday, in the presence of bank officials. Traffic SSP Dr Moeen Masood, Islamabad SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik, Traffic SP Mirvais Niaz and other traffic officials were also present.

Khan said that the facility was made to ease tensions faced by license applicants, adding that it would continuously be upgraded for increased convenience. The NBP booth has been set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance.

Later, Khan also witnessed the removal of pressure horns from police vehicles and said that the ITP is working to ensure that the capital is noise-free. A special squad is being organised to take action against vehicles with pressure horns. Over 3,500 horns removed during the past seven months were crushed in the presence of police officials.

Newly purchased speed cameras were distributed in the hopes of overcoming speeding and reckless driving violations.

Furthermore, the ITP will crackdown on vehicles with tinted glass under a special directive to the Traffic SSP.

Khan also distributed four laptops for police officials’ children as acknowledgment of their efforts and distinctions in various educational fields.
