Karate: Shidokan contest to feature 28 players

As many as 28 karatekas from six countries will fight for honours at the Third Asian Soeno Samurai Shidokan Full-Contact contest that starts tomorrow. The event will see participation of Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh besides hosts Pakistan, has been organised by the local Shidokan federation. The sport, a form of karate, is often described as the triathlon of martial arts, combining elements of knockdown karate, Thai kick-boxing and grappling. Tournaments are full-contact and are usually held in a boxing ring.
