US justice officials said Jubair Ahmad, 24, posted a propaganda video for the LeT “glorifying violent jihad” in 2010, three years after he arrived in the United States with his parents and two younger brothers.
“Foreign terrorist organisations such as the LeT use the Internet as part of well-orchestrated propaganda campaigns to radicalise and recruit individuals to wage violent jihad and to promote the spread of terror,” US Attorney Neil MacBride said.
“Today’s conviction of Jubair Ahmad demonstrates that we will aggressively investigate and prosecute anyone who provides material support to a terrorist organisation in whatever form it takes,” he added. Jubair Ahmad, of Woodbridge, Virginia, close to Washington, will be sentenced on April 13.
“By preparing and posting a graphic video that glorified violent extremism, Jubair Ahmad directly supported the mission of a designated terrorist organisation,” FBI Assistant Director in charge James McJunkin said.
