US justice officials said Jubair Ahmad, 24, posted a propaganda video for the LeT “glorifying violent jihad” in 2010, three years after he arrived in the United States with his parents and two younger brothers.
“Foreign terrorist organisations such as the LeT use the Internet as part of well-orchestrated propaganda campaigns to radicalise and recruit individuals to wage violent jihad and to promote the spread of terror,” US Attorney Neil MacBride said.
“Today’s conviction of Jubair Ahmad demonstrates that we will aggressively investigate and prosecute anyone who provides material support to a terrorist organisation in whatever form it takes,” he added. Jubair Ahmad, of Woodbridge, Virginia, close to Washington, will be sentenced on April 13.
“By preparing and posting a graphic video that glorified violent extremism, Jubair Ahmad directly supported the mission of a designated terrorist organisation,” FBI Assistant Director in charge James McJunkin said.

This Speaking brother of Jubair. Yes, killing 24 people with entering a different countr's border. and killing 3 innocent civilian isn't terrorism. It was "Un-Intentional" BUT POSTING A VIDEO, which SHOWS CRUELTY IN US PRISONS ON YOUTUBE, is SUPPORTING TERRORISM. HEY FBI, YOUR CONSTITUTION's FIRST AMENDMENT AND BILL OF RIGHT IS TERRORIST WHO PROTEST THIS VIDEO!
@Trick-or-Treat: We Pakistanis do not have loyalties to where we live and earn. The pledge and oath we sign and hold our right hand to, means nothing to many of us. This is sad but true. More Muslims live in India and other countries but no incidents of such terrorism. Most Indian Muslims are peace loving and law abiding in the USA. @Raj: That is what I exactly meant. I wrote a bigger comment but it was cesnored. After his detention is over, he would be ready to come to Pakistan to freely practice his beliefs. I am sure that the inmates would treat him like a traitor. Thanks and regards, Mirza
So he posts a video on YouTube and gets 15-years? Whats next? 10 years for posting a comment?
Mr Changezi, clearly you dont get vasan's sarcasm.
I'm shocked that the US is still letting these people into their country after so many incidents! The Times Square computer engineer should've been the last straw. So much for keeping us non-Muslims safe!
pakistan zindabad
One would think that due to ignorance and illiteracy people in Pakistan tend to seek extremist ideas, guess that's not the case. Even the ones living in land of opportunity are dumb.
@TQ who says "Few bad apples really destroying common Pakistanies image, why you want to do such act , specially when a country provides you a good life and education."
Really? few bad apples? Looks like the entire basket is rotting.
If they Consider Social Media as Medium for Crime !!!!! Why US and Other Powers Don't Declare those Peoples and Organization as Terrorist, Who make Propaganda Against Islam and Draw Malicious Cartoon about Greatest Personality Ever born on earth i.e. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)
American Dream But Pakistani Strategic Assets' Actions. Thought USA 's agencies and justice system like Pakistani bravo agencies and Independent judicial system.
feel pity for him,US prisons are not nice,we all know what happens there.
@M. A. Changezi
You Indians never cease to amaze me. Equating RAW with Mossad and CIA? Lol! emphasized text
We dont, you do, Infact we never hear about RAW except in Pakistani newspapapers, but then the secret service is supposed to be secret right?
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: It is very unfortunate that Pakistanis who remain 1st class citizens in their own country after migrating to US becomes 3rd class citizens. Bhaisaheb given half a chance, every Pakistani will rush to USA & willingly become even a 4th class US citizen.
@ Mohd Ali Sidduqi: First class citizens in a place which is being equated to Somalia and Nigeria where there is no rule of law and its a struggle to get water, electricity, security e.t.c or a second class citizen in the US where these things are all but guaranteed ?
Its absolutely amazing what sort of nut jobs we as a nation are breeding, I can only imagine the efforts this guys family went through to shift to the USA probably all in the hope for a brighter future and safer surroundings and this fellow decides to glorify Jihad against infidels (read America) while IN America the place where he's just gone for brighter prospects....It is amazing how messed up in the head some people are and it is good that he was caught and prosecuted. People like these should be punished to the absolute extent possible by the law and made an example of to put the fear of God in all the other closet / computer Jihadi's
What about the guy that burnt the Quran? He doesnt get anything?
pakistanis should prepare themselves for such cases in future too.that is strategy of US to launch slander compaign against every nation that it intends to invade in future.that was the case with iraq, afghanistan and now pakistan.
Few bad apples really destroying common Pakistanies image, why you want to do such act , specially when a country provides you a good life and education.
Why the terrorist law in Pakistan is different than the terrorist law of US?
Jubair (which probably may be Zubair) Ahmad pleaded guilty and sentenced for 15 years jail for posting on internet a propaganda video “glorifying violent extremism” in 2010, whereas US national Raymond Davis in a terrorist attacked killed two people in Lahore and was allowed to go back to US without prosecution, after paying the blood money.
I am not referring the case of Pakistani scientist Aafia Siddiqui who has been sentenced to jail for 185 years.
I don’t understand as why people go to US and obtain green card and nationality after completing the required formalities and filling up the form in which a undertaking is printed at the foot of the form that the alien can be expelled for deported any time by the US government.
It is very unfortunate that Pakistanis who remain 1st class citizens in their own country after migrating to US becomes 3rd class citizens.
Quote US justice officials said Jubair Ahmad, 24, posted a propaganda video the name seems more like bengali than Pakistani....this should be investigated as Pakistanis write Zubair,....and Bangldeshis write Jubair......they even had a cricketer named Talha Jubair....so this seems to be a bit fishy.........
He should have stayed home where he only had a one in four chance of being convicted of terrorist activity.
@Observer: @Mirza: "After he completes his 15 years term, he should be deported from the US." That is part of the sentence already in addition to a hefty fine!
I really want to know what goes on in the mind of these people. I am sort of in the same age group and came to US 6 years ago. But never in my life in Pakistan I had such radical ideas. And when I came to US I had more clarity of thoughts than ever on how world politics works and how our military inc. is equally responsible for all our problems. When you are out of Pakistan, you have a huge opportunity to observe, learn and grow - it's phenomenal how you can change your life for good. And to be clear, I come from a middle class background and went to almost government school and colleges in Pakistan. So, it's definitely not something class related where people from less privileged background are more likely to get radicalized. One factor that might trigger this behavior is probably the powerful state sponsored hyper-nationalism that forces ordinary Pakistanis to look at everything from a narrow nationalistic and religious point of view. And sadly even though most people acknowledge it now, there is nothing being done to counter that trend.
Videos are now a threat in the "land of the free" and as usual fake liberals, aka US funded agents come to the defense of US policies.
Pakistanis are in the news for all the WRONG reasons!
@vasan:
You Indians never cease to amaze me. Equating RAW with Mossad and CIA? Lol!
More power to the U.S judiciary and law enforcement agencies for taking out another black sheep.
@vasan: You forgot kfc, mcdonalds and starbucks.......please grow up
@Mirza: He has to survive the US Jail, as likelyhood is that this being Federal offence, in all likelyhood he will end up in federal peniteritary, where he will be residing with the Creame de la Creame of US Criminals !!!!!
Another Pakistani export to the west !!!!
shame on these muslims who have no sympathies for a muslim as PBUH said muslims are one body.
What confuses me is that there are a large number of Iraqis and Iranians in the US but they mostly live in the US peacefully. (Maybe with a few exceptions.) But what is it about Pakistanis that makes them take to terrorism at the drop of a hat? Why the persecution complex?
I Strictly Cndemned Americian Decesion about Jubair ....
Another one bits the dust.
need a wider probe net and more convictions to curb terror friendly tendencies in Pakistani youth residing overseas.
Another misdirected strategic asset
This is the reason I appreciate America for their extraordinary help in fighting terrorists coming from pakistan and present anywhere in the world and planning to attack India.. It also creates severe visa restrictions for normal pakistanis going to america which is sad because of this few bad apples.
RAW/CIA/MOSSAD conspiracy, yet again.
