Reproductive health: Rural women need to be educated

KARACHI: Modern contraceptive techniques have to be properly used and made accessible to poor people, said Dr Wasima Zulfiqar. She was addressing a seminar on reproductive health organised by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Karachi chapter. “At least 200 million women around the world need safe and efficient modes of contraception but are unable to do so because they are not aware of it, don’t have access to the facilities and their families and communities don’t support them,” she said. Dr Ismail Memon, the joint secretary of PMA Karachi, said that the medical community should realise their social responsibility and work for motivating and educating the people on adequate birth spacing.
