KARACHI:

The Nato attack on our troops was not an accident it was a deliberate offence, said Awami Amn Committee senior leader Zafar Baloch while protesting in front of the US consulate on Sunday. “It is time to expel the Americans from our country.” Men, women and children had arrived by the truck load and were chanting slogans against the Americans and NATO forces on Mai Kolachi Road.

Many protesters had also brought donkeys carts and could be seen hold the national flag, posters of the former Sindh home minster Zulfiqar Mirza and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. “We will be ready if the army needs help,” he said. “We will lay down our lives for the security, honour and sovereignty of Pakistan.”

While the Amn committee was protesting in front of the American consulate, activists from the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Bangoli’s Action Committee and Hizbut Tahrir gathered at the Karachi Press Club, separately and protested.

According to PML-Q Sindh General Secretary Haleem Adil Sheikh the attacks were part of a larger conspiracy which was meant to destabilise Pakistan. He added that all political parties should set aside their differences and join forces. “The American’s should not force us to become suicide bombers in order to protect our country,” he said. “If needed, I will become a suicide bomber.”
