Repatriation: Over 300 families return to Mohmand

Returning families given food, hygiene kits by PDMA.

PESHAWAR:

As many as 323 internally displaced families belonging to Mohmand Agency returned home from the Jalozai camp on Thursday, following three years of displacement.

Around 9,000 families were shifted to the camp in 2009, when security forces launched an operation in the agency against militants.

Following the successful operation, the authorities declared several areas of the agency, including Safi, Baizai, Khwezai and Pandiali tehsils safe for repatriation, after which around 8,000 families returned to Mohmand in June this year.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) spokesperson, around 846 families are still left in the camp.

He explained that the PDMA provided gas cylinders, food, transportation and hygiene kits to the families who left the camp, while 45 buses and 90 trucks were arranged for the returning families.

In addition to that, the Fata Disaster Management Authority has already established two centres in Khar, Bajaur and Ghalani areas of Mohmand Agency, where special food packages will also be provided to the returning families, an official told The Express Tribune.
